Students add poison to water for holidays, 18 ill

Two class seven students allegedly mixed poison into a water tanker in their school to get their holidays extended on Monday at Bhirtana village here.
Eighteen students fell ill after drinking water from the tank. They were then taken to Jind's general hospital.
"We were sitting in class and after an hour a lot of us started vomiting so we called the Acharyaji. We later found out that some students had poisoned the water in the tanker, some students even had to be hospitalised, " said Dinesh, a student.
All the students have been hospitalised and their condition is stated to be out of danger, official said.
However, the two pranksters were taken into police custody, but the Gurukul decided not to press charges. They have been handed over to their guardians.
Further inquiry is on, the officials said.
