There’s just about two weeks left for the mega-event. And while the clock is ticking as we speak, we’re getting some last minute good news for you.
Take a look inside the Commonwealth Games Village, where guests and participants will be staying. Just days ago, the Organising Committee were worried the project would not be completed on time. Then there was the dengue scare as well. But now, according to this NDTV report, the Games Village looks state-of-the-art and is set to match the high standards of the CWG committee.

More good news
Elsewhere, Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta reiterated that everything was ready for the mega sporting event. He told IANS that almost all the projects for the Games, including beautification and infrastructure-related ones, have been completed. More here.
Reacting to the bad reviews on A.R. Rahman’s CWG theme song, ad man and lyricist Prasoon Joshi tweaked the song lyrics to give it new life. Prasoon Joshi said that Rahman has always tried to improvise on his work by adding more tunes to his composition so while making changes in the theme songs, he added more folk instruments to make it sound “peppy, shorter, and tighter”. The song was remixed to make it sound like a sports anthem, as the previous version didn’t seem to make any impact on the sports lovers over the nation. More here.
In some more good news, the CWG Organising Committee, for the second consecutive day, took the media to visit the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and the lawn bowls greens. Though it kept raining all evening, things still looked under control at the JLN Stadium, which will host the opening and closing ceremonies and the main athletic events. “It has been raining continuously since evening but we have covered the field areas and there is no damage to the infrastructure here. This proves that we are absolutely ready for the games,” said Lalit Bhanot, the OC secretary-general. More here.
